Club Championships 2022

How it works:
  • All full club members 17 years and over as of 1st January 2022 will be able to sign up by joining the “Club Championship” access group on TeamApp.
  • The aim is to accumulate the greatest number of points across a set of pre-selected races across the season.
  • This year’s championship is not just about being top of the points, but has been designed as a challenge for challenge for everyone, by encouraging members to push their limits by trying a wide range of races. Therefore, to qualify as a championship finisher, participants must enter races from at least 3 categories: short; middle; long distance; and off road.
  • Your best 8 races will count towards your final score (to include at least one race from three of the four categories). Every runner who completes this challenge will be awarded a finishers medal!
  • There will be three race age categories: U35, 35-49, 50+, for men and women.
  • Age categories will be based on your age as of January 1st 2022.
  • Points will be awarded based on your position in the race, compared to the other Caerphilly Runners and within your age category and gender categories. So, first U35 male and female runner get 25 points each, as do the first male and female runners in the other two age categories. Second-place finishers receive 24 points, and so on.
  • Runners finishing in 20th position or below will receive 5 points each.
  • Most events are standalone races which run once only. For the Rose Inn series, your season best score will be counted.
  • As all running events rely on volunteers to marshal, hand out medals, etc. there will be a bonus 5 points to any runner who volunteers at a race during the season, to be awarded once only. This does not have to be a race on the list and will include our own Club Handicap Race. This does not count towards your race total and points will be awarded in addition to your score accumulated over your top scoring 8 races.
  • You will need enter the race under your own name, running under someone else’s name will not be permitted for the championship’s.
  • In the event that an event is postponed and not dated within 2022, it will not be counted for this year’s championship.
  • The maximum number of points available for any individual runner will be 205.
  • In the event of a tie then the championship will be shared.
Below are the races. By selecting on the table you'll be taken another web page which will allow you to click on (most) which will take you directly to the race websites. PLEASE NOTE: Some races have not been released yet and the link may be to previous races, though you should be able to get to the entry forms from their websites. You do not need to sign up to the Parkruns, just turn up!
