What made you decide to join Caerphilly Runners?
I was introduced to Caerphilly runners after setting myself the challenge to run Caerphilly 10k four years after major spinal surgery. My surgeon told me I wouldn't be able to run. As I love a challenge and not being a runner, I needed to prove him wrong. A good friend joined with me and on the 4th anniversary of my surgery June 18th we ran our first race. It was a very emotional day and the start of A whole new lifestyle for us both
How long have you been a member of the Club??
I have been a member for 3 years
How has running changed your lifestyle? How have you improved since joining Caerphilly Runners?
Running certainly helps my overall fitness. I've lost a few lbs. I feel fitter and healthier than I have for many years and it's brilliant for my mental health. It's a time for me. Running helps me chill and I feel so free and alive whilst running
What is your preferred running distance?
I have taken part in numerous 5k races for great causes but prefer 10ks now. My goal is Cardiff half marathon in October 2019
What would you say to someone who is thinking of joining the Club?
I would definitely recommend joining the club. I certainly wouldn't have been able to achieve my goal without the help, understanding and support from the coaches and runners. I have made some lovely friends over the years. It's become a part of family life with my son joining for a year and my daughter joining this year too

What made you decide to join Caerphilly Runners?
I ran Race for Victory in May and saw all of the Caerphilly Runners supporting each other. A few even pushed me on and they didn't even know me, so I knew the club was right for me. I had signed up for Caerphilly 10k last year and was nervous about it as it was my first 10k race. I googled and found CR and went to a few trial sessions just before Caerphilly 10k. Everyone was really friendly and helped me so much on the day
How long have you been a member of the Club??
I joined the club in May 2018
How has running changed your lifestyle? How have you improved since joining Caerphilly Runners?
Running (along with kickboxing and slimming world) helped me achieve my goal of losing 8 stone in 16 months for my wedding. I went from 18 stone to 10 stone. I definitely improved. I started Park Run in January 2018 and with clubs help and support, I ran London Marathon this year
What is your preferred running distance?
My preferred distance is half marathon. I find 5k and 10k too short to really get into it and London marathon was brutal. Half seems a good distance to zone out and relax for me.
What would you say to someone who is thinking of joining the Club?
If you're looking for a friendly group of people, advice on running and support for improving your running, definitely join Caerphilly Runners. Everyone runs different speeds but it's one club. It's honestly like a family

What made you decide to join Caerphilly Runners?
A couple of years ago I decided to set myself some challenges. My first was to lose weight and get myself fit. I lost over 3 stone and kept it off by going to the gym. After a while I was getting bored of just going to the gym so wanted to try something else so I decided to try running and before I knew it i had signed up for Cardiff Half Marathon. My brother, who's with Caerphilly Runners told me I needed to train and to go along with him. I just went for a look one evening and ended up doing a 5k run, it took me over an hour, but i really enjoyed it. I signed up for the Sofa to 5K (S25K) class on a Wednesday evening. I met some lovely people who have now become friends. I ran the Cardiff Half Marathon and haven't stopped running since. I have since done couple of 5k and 10k races and I have signed up for this years Cardiff Half Marathon again
How long have you been a member of the Club??
I have only been a member since September 2018 after I completed the S25K sessions
How has running changed your lifestyle? How have you improved since joining Caerphilly Runners?
Since i have been running on a regular basis, 3 times a week, i have become fitter. I have learnt how to run, I have improved by getting a "little" bit faster, but i like back marking when running in the week. I also like doing park run. Running has given me loads of new friends from all walks of life
What is your preferred running distance?
I like doing 5k in the week, but recently have found myself doing more 10k runs and find i am improving all the time
What would you say to someone who is thinking of joining the Club?
If anyone is thinking of joining Caerphilly Runners STOP thinking and do it. I wish i had done it years ago. The support and friendship is second to none. And there's nothing better when your on a run and see all your club mates cheering you on around the course, and if your struggling along the way you can guarantee some will come back and run in with you

What made you decide to join Caerphilly Runners?
I started running last year running on my own but I needed further motivation to keep running, I had seen Caerphilly runners in their kits at races and was always interested in joining but not confident to join as I'm not a runner. I joined in June 2018 and have never looked back
How long have you been a member of the Club??
I have been a member since June 2018
How has running changed your lifestyle? How have you improved since joining Caerphilly Runners?
I have lost 3 stone in weight since joining the club and my lifestyle has changed drastically. I want to be a fit father to my 6 year old daughter.
What is your preferred running distance?
I quite like a half marathon but prefer 10k distance where I have just had a personal best (PB) in Newport of 44.39
What would you say to someone who is thinking of joining the Club?
I was tentative to join thinking I would never fit in but from the moment I walked into the club house the day I joined I was greeted by a friendly face and that was all the assurance I needed
